Cosmos
NOVEMBER 15TH - December 10th, 2018
The three artists in the COSMOS exhibition work with different materials but nevertheless identified a synergy or collective energy in their work around the theme of cosmic energy and fascination with the night sky. They collaborated to present a dynamic exhibition which included stunning time lapse photography by Angus Gunn, planet-like weavings by Mae Adams, and mysterious, atmospheric photograms by Susan Purdy.
Fibre artist Mae Adams used Australian indigenous plants combined with a small amount of commercially dyed yarn to dramatic effect in her wall mounted works titled Exoplanets 1, 2 & 3, Red Lake on Jupiter, and Deep Space, Dark Universe. The weavings are inspired by recent space exploration and the plant materials harvested from Mae’s bush land property at Venus Bay, Victoria, where she lives and works.
COSMOS was open to the public at Gecko Studio Gallery, Fish Creek, Victoria, with a well attended artists’ reception held on Friday 23 November.
