Heather Turner will be conducting a workshop at The Stables on Sunday 23 May from 10am to 4pm.
Heather is an encouraging and enthusiastic tutor who has inspired many to harvest and use natural fibres in their basketry work. Members of the Northern Plains basketry group willingly travel many kilometres to attend the regular basketry days which are held in her home, so we are very fortunate that Heather has agreed to do the travelling and visit us here at Wattle Park.
Whether you wish to explore using readily available plants such as Red Hot Poker, cordyline and NZ Flax (to name but a few) in your basketry, or whether you wish to refresh your knowledge, this workshop could be just what you need.
You will also learn different ways to begin a basket, how to twine, and a technique to finish. With these skills you will be able to experiment, explore and further develop your basketry creativity. This workshop is sold out but there will be future opportunities.
