Welcome to our website.
Basketmakers of Victoria, a non-profit organisation established in 1986, aims to develop and advance interest in the art and craft of applying basketry techniques.
While principally focused on natural fibre basketry we support eclectic  interests, embracing traditional and contemporary practices and influences.
We maintain a permanent gallery and mount periodic exhibitions of work, conduct and host workshops and demonstrate at selected community events.

Meeting place:
On Wednesdays and Sundays our members meet at The Cottage between 10.00am and 3.00pm to work on their baskets, discuss ideas and share basketry techniques.
Visitors are welcome to view our gallery and meet our basketmakers on these days.
The cottage is located at Wattle Park, 1012 Riversdale Road, Burwood, Victoria, Australia (Melway Map 60 J3).

DRIFT 2012 at Herring Island
First photos of the opening of our current exhibition at the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival and of  the small boats installation. Congratulations to all our participating fibre artists and thank you to Maree, Liz and Sue for the excellent displays of the fibreworks. The exhibition is open on Saturdays and Sundays until 19 February 2012, from 12 noon till 4.45 pm (4pm on 19th). Visitors will  see fibre artists  working and there are special activities for children. Last year's Big Fish is also on display.
Take the Parks Victoria punt from Como landing across the Yarra river to Herring Island. The punt operates between 11am and 5pm on weekends until Easter. The island also features   an environmental sculpture trail - maps are available in the gallery.
