Workshops
the annual get together of Victorian basketmakers held at the cottage at the beginning of January.
Members annual muster at The Cottage every January.
Workshops are held regularly throughout the year in different aspects of basketmaking.
Non-members are also welcome to participate.

‘Make a Melon Basket’
with Edit Meaklim

This is a two-day workshop in basic basket making skills for beginners and improvers. Students will learn how to set up a frame for a ribbed basket, god’s eyes and other weaving techniques and also learn how to identify, collect and treat plant materials from the environment, for use in basketry.

Stitched Basketry Workshop with Margaret Balfe

This is a two-day workshop for beginners and improvers. You will be taught how to make a stitched coiled basket. Alternative ways of starting stitched baskets will be discussed and samples shown. How to blend different materials and fibres will be taught as well as how to achieve sculptural effects. The aim will be to make a small basket so that finishing techniques can be shown.

Workshop fees can vary but generally workshop fees for a 2 day workshop are:
$120 - Non-Members : $90 – Members
Material fees are sometimes included.
BYO Lunch & Mug – Tea & Coffee provided

WORKSHOP POLICY

• Payment in full must accompany the enrolment form to secure a place. A deposit does not secure a place. An expression of interest does not secure a place.

• In the event of a participant having to cancel a workshop with less than a week’s notice there will be a refund of monies paid less a $10.00 cancellation fee.

• A workshop will be cancelled one week prior to the advertised date if the minimum number of students is not reached. All monies paid will be refunded in these circumstances.

• A suggested materials list will be sent to all students. Some workshops carry a small fee, payable to the tutor. This will be advised.

• Some receipts will be issued at the workshop.

• A business size stamped self addressed envelope must be included with your payment for the return of confirmation and information regarding the workshop.
